ENERGY worldnet, Inc. Sets Staggering Pace in Developing Course Content

After publishing 51 new computer-based training courses in 2016 and 142 in 2017, e-learning company EWN created a record 285 new e-learning courses in 2018. With regulatory scrutiny increasing and human error accidents trending as a hot topic in the oil and gas industry, the need for the most technologically up-to-date training content is quickly becoming a priority for energy companies. Executive Director of Education at EWN, Dr. Matt Joiner, shared how EWN’s completely in-house education department separates itself from the competition, “while other e-learning companies handling this task themselves can take up to 6 months per course, EWN has streamlined the process to complete courses in a matter of weeks. The process and protocols we employ in the development of our computer-based and instructor-led trainings incorporate both industry and educational best practices.” While day-to-day updating and creating new course content, EWN works hand-in-hand with both Operators and Contractors to create custom content. This process can piggy-back on the same streamlined processes to expedite the timeline that some Operators and Contractors struggle to delivery. EWN consults on this process or can step in and develop content.   For more industry news and insights:

Jim’s Takeaways from the Louisiana811 Damage Prevention Summit

I had a great time at the Louisiana811 Damage Prevention Summit held January 15-17.  It was an exciting event with a lot of insight.  Here are my big takeaways from the week: New Technologies – This session had the most buzz afterwards and it focused on Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality and how it will play a big part in our lives (training, job duties and more). VR is becoming mainstream and companies are adopting to help make their training and work more effective and efficient. James Spellos from Meeting U did an awesome job engaging the group and pulling the curtain back on some of the newest ways VR will be impacting our work and personal life. Live Demo of Natural Gas – Roderick Bourgeois (Kinder Morgan) brought the fire to the show, with a fantastic live demo that showcased the various properties of gas – what to be aware of and applied them to real-life examples. There were plenty of questions and interaction with the crowd and if you are looking for something to break the norm of conference sessions, this is one for sure. Lots of other good stuff at the Damage Prevention Summit, hope to see you out […]

CenterPoint Energy and Xcel Energy recognized for Energy-Efficient Program

CenterPoint Energy and Xcel Energy were honored today by The American Council for Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) for their joint efforts in the Home Energy Squad program. According to The New Leaders of the Pack: ACEEE’s Fourth National Review of Exemplary Energy Efficiency Programs, the program, which began in 2010 and offers home energy audits and helps homeowners develop and implement energy-efficient plans for their homes, is for CenterPoint and Xcel’s residential customers. In 2018 alone, the companies combined to invest over $4 million in the program. Surveys have shown that almost all clients agreed that the recommendations were beneficial and that they felt more comfortable with the program coming from CenterPoint and Xcel rather than a contractor.
